About Me

“Perhaps the research process is a journey that never ends, where we shouldn’t aim to find one
solution. Rather, we can only hope to continuously interrogate our surroundings, bring awareness,
and to propose ideas and reflections to start meaningful conversations.”

– Brené Brown

Lucia Stacchiotti

My primary school teacher used to call me “Lucia in Wonderland” because I was constantly curious – full of wonder and questions, with an insatiable appetite for discovering the world around me, its people, and my own existence.

Growing older, I find myself changing so much. As a work in progress, I continue to evolve, study, search and learn. This desire to experience life fully and develop as an individual is what brought me across the globe 6 years ago, from Italy to Australia.

At eight years old, I read Antoine de Saint Exupery’s The Little Prince for the first time, and fell completely in love with it. The notion that an inner child exists somewhere inside of every one of us, really resonated with me. This inner child, always rich with curiosity, playfulness and openness, is a concept that has stuck with me ever since, leading me to study Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Pedagogy, Education, Philosophy and Neuroscience. It’s the very reason I continue to be committed to learning and evolving.

At the time I did not fully understand my teacher’s nickname for me, but I realise now how astute she was.

Human beings are wonderfully complex – and far more interconnected than we know. I love to think that we can find infinite ways to support and inspire each other along this journey called Life.
Young humans have an innate knowledge of our connectedness already, and it’s for this reason that I consider it a privilege to work with children. These young souls taught me how essential it is to be present, to connect with others, to dare ourselves to jump, to try, to create new opportunities but ask for support when we need it, to say how we feel, to dream, and to be wise yet always playful. These characteristics remind me that we all have a version of the Little Prince inside us – our very own Moonchild.

During our early years this Moonchild perhaps did not feel loved or nurtured, safe or free to express themselves and grow. Instead, they might have created ways to protect themselves from being hurt. With tiny, gentle steps we need to attune ourselves with our own inner child: the voice that is always trying to communicate with us. We just need to find ways to listen to them. Like a real child, our inner child needs to feel safe and heard in order to blossom. We must nurture and reconnect with the Moonchild inside each of us. This way we can gradually and gently create new possibilities.

Education and Experience

I am an Early Childhood teacher with a Postgraduate degree in Special Needs. I studied Pedagogy and Human Sciences, and have a Masters in Clinical Pedagogy.

I recently completed a professional course with Gabor Maté (‘Compassionate Inquiry’, a Graduate level trauma-informed psychotherapeutic approach). I completed a Postgraduate (PACFA registered) diploma in Trauma-Informed Processwork Psychotherapy and I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Education researching around the sense of belonging. I am currently attending Peter Levine’s ‘Somatic Experiencing’ course, as well as completing a mindfulness course.

I have been working with families and young children as a teacher, clinical pedagogist and educational leader, for over 15 years. I have absolutely loved this work, and feel fortunate to have had the chance to walk alongside many unique, trusting families. Witnessing their children grow and blossom has been deeply rewarding.

In my newest role, I have the opportunity to support people who are open and have the courage to explore themselves and reconnect with the Moonchild within.

What is a Clinical Pedagogist?

The Clinical Pedagogist is a professional with an MA in Pedagogy and Human Sciences, who has obtained a further two-year postgraduate specialisation. Their role is to help their client establish a relationship through which they can create harmony within, overcoming momentary ones, of the strengthening of resources, of harmonious development, of the wellbeing of the person, to generate new balance and new possibilities in the exchange with the other.

The Italian sociologist Dolci said, “Everyone grows only if dreamed”. I have always dedicated myself, with love and respect, to supporting the growth of other human beings. I am energised by helping others uncover the Moonchild within, and, in turn, to realise their dreams and soar.

In life we thrive when we feel safe and nourished in our relationships
and it begins in our relationship with ourselves
